dawwww thank you Sari this is such a nice welcome! Hi and hello to all you Sublime readers out there I am psyched to be here. Looking forward to getting weird and figuring stuff out with all of y'all.
Hi & thanks for this wonderful newsletter. Ive been thinking about the theme of “both are true” a lot in the past few days. My version of it is that : To be great at something, one has to be obsessed about it. On the other hand; We need to explore a lot to know what’s worth obsessing about.
As everyone knows, Mr Dobrenko is a menace, a loon, a fop, a charlatan and a clown omelet (which starts with a "c" so that's definitely his turf).
That said, he is also a great writer (or has a great ghost-writer! I wouldn't put it past the man...) so I'm delighted to see his words and his kind, empathetic Chaotic Good input will be going into Sublime - you've picked a good'un here.
Hooray! I’m following Alex over here. And I am pretty intrigued by the app you’re building. I’m a three-year user of Roam and have recently started looking for an alternative. I’m a pretty heavy knowledge database user. I’ll try to join your beta test group!
On over-intellectualizing: "Don't think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It's self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can't try to do things. You simply must do things." -Ray Bradbury
Welcome, Alex! This has been one of my favorite newsletter for a while, and I'm excited to see what comes of it now.
I love the framing of 'both are true'. I think of it as seeking nuance. I often see nuance put aside in mainstream discourse, especially on the bird app, so I look forward to reading more of your work here, and elsewhere!
100% agree. 'both are true' is just so often the place I end up when writing about something -- I'll figure something out but then realize that its inverse is also true and that my struggle with the idea came from my inability to hold both of those things at once
All sounds juicy. Since you asked, this is a very big deal for me, putting my money where my mouth is to get people thinking outside the box. What more can do to help this hurting world than just electing Democrats?
ESSAY CONTEST with Cash Prizes! Due February 14.
It’s January 1, 2050. How, in 2024, did we pull off saving the world?

YES!!! I love Ray Bradbury's line: "DON'T THINK"
I could use that.
lol reminds me of the line "don't just do something, stand there!"
