"Online, performance is mostly arrested in the nebulous realm of sentiment, through an unbroken stream of hearts and likes and eyeballs, aggregated in numbers attached to your name." --> attaching heart to this one as it was my favourite ❤️ ;)
4. Time, humor (and aliens ... or only aliens since they connect both ;)

in answer to one of your questions:
"What are some of the best stories you’ve ever heard and/or told (across any medium)?"
ted chiang's "The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate" is one of my favorite short stories!
ursula k le guin's "The Lathe of Heaven" is one of my favorite short novels!
charlie kaufman "Antkind" is a novel that i'm in the middle of loving RIGHT NOW!
"breaking bad" and "better call saul" are incredible stories!
THERE ARE TOO MANY BEST STORIES I CANNOT SHARE THEM ALL!
thanks for asking and sharing!

I need to get over the fact that being creative doesn't "use up" creativity but it generates more and with better results. Let's say it together.
Alex, thank you, this set of quotes made my day. Especially this one:
"A reader's favourite subject is the reader. Derek Thompson"
Can't believe I only *just* discovered Jia Tolentino's book "Trick Mirror." Those highlights are absolute gems.
Add to 🛒
"The internet demands we actively perform ‘being yourself’ so that others can see it."
This resonates, and ironically, I think gets in the way of more authentic storytelling online
“Good stories make prices go up and help things happen.
They get you the job or the girl.
Great stories create generational wealth and unlock leaping emergent effects.
They get you the promotion or the “yes” in response to proposal.
Bad stories destroy fortunes, friendships, future opportunity.”
